1. Brothers Brewery / Juke Joint, Eden Terrace
Get your craft beer on while the kids enjoy plenty of space to run amuck in the courtyard. Sandpit, toys and a banged up old Beetle to explore inside. Order the tater tots but be aware, that fresh, they’d put up a phenomenal fight against the blistering heat of a Maccy D’s apple pie.
2. Hallertau, Riverhead
More craft beer! Nom nom nom nom nom. This little gem has a playground within the pub walls, climbing wall, blocks to build with, colouring in, chickens and a great kids menu. The food here is legit and never fails to disappoint. Bookings essential as it can get pretty cray cray at the weekend.
3. Mission Bay Pavilion, Mission Bay
Beautiful views of the beach, beanbags, giant tick tack toe and the playground is a stone’s throw away so you can tag team who watches the kids and who throws back an Aperol Spritz. MPV also put on special events for the kids in their side building such as movies and science days – a must.
4.Whoa! Studios, Henderson
An urban playground of epic colour popping proportions. You have to pay for a wristband which is a bit annoying but you get over it quickly after seeing the utter glee in your child’s face. Settle down for a fancy vino while the kids run riot around the grounds or book the whole family in to one of their fantastic shows which run throughout the year.
5. The Good Home, Mount Eden
Designated kids room (at the back of course) with heaps of toys, magnetic scrabble and a tv often playing repeats of Peppa Pig – genius. The food isn’t incredible but the beer and wine list is large and the kid’s menu is very generous. There are also lots more Good Homes dotted around Auckland which have a similar setup.
